Područje is situated in the western part of Zagreb County, where it borders with Slovenia and Krapinsko – Zagorska County. It is an area of rich cultural and historic heritage, covered with forests, tame winegrowing green hills and plains, mild slopes and cultured spots of land with many country houses.
